Anvils in America, THE book about anvils

Emerald Koch Collection

Söding & Halbach Amboß

S and H anvil

Söding & Halbach No. 7 - 525 kg Amboß (anvil) on Stand

Provided by Emerald Koch BlacksmithParadise.com.

This is a very fine example of an S&H anvil which I believe is the most beautiful and probably the best anvil every manufactured bar none. The symmetry is great art no matter what genre' or period. Details such as the body corner chamfers that blend into the perpendicular flats on the feet are fine forging. The massive base equal to a large part of the anvil length is great engineering. There are many modern makers who have copied this design in much easier to make castings and have failed miserably. If you are looking for a good shop anvil, heavy sculpture OR an investment you can do no better than an S&H. - guru.
