New Book Project Announcement!
Deadline Extended to August 1, 2001!
Portriat Dona Meilach
From: Dona Z. Meilach, author

Hello:

I am pleased to announce that I am now gathering materials for a new book tentatively titled:

FIREPLACE ACCESSORIES

From photos sent in from from earlier books, it seems that almost every blacksmith, and artist who works in metal, has created fireplace hardware along the way. Those who work in stone and other materilas have also made many decorative firelpace objects. The trick is to get the pieces photographed well (and I know many of you have done this already). So gather your photos and let me see what you have done. These might be for wood or gas burning fireplaces or stoves.

   Accessories might be:
  1. Log Baskets
  2. Logs and log sets
  3. Enclosures, glass, wire, flat, 3D
  4. Free standing screen and guards
  5. Fenders
  6. Spits and various cooking items
  7. Coal boxes

  1. Fire set tools with stands or wall mounted
  2. Fire boxes
  3. Mantels
  4. Surrounds
  5. Flue handles and flue hardware
  6. Stoves and their accessories especially very sculptural forms

I'd like to include:
  • Before and after photos showing how the accessories have changed the appearance of the fireplace.
  • Any how-to or in process series.
  • Historical examples.
  • Mantles and surrounds of any material including iron, copper, brass, wood, stone, brick, marble, granite, structured foam, or?
  • Any Style from antique to contemporary used any place from cabines to palaces.
DEADLINE FOR PHOTOS is July 1, 2001 August 1, 2001

ABOUT THE PHOTOS
Photos can be black and white and/or color, prints or 35mm slides or transparencies, or high resolution digital printouts . We can convert color to black and white but not vice-versa. Naturally, the quality of the photos, the quality and uniqueness of the work, and how it relates to other work in a chapter will determine its use in the book.

Please print and sign the attached photo release when you send photos. Any questions? Just ask. Call, write, fax, or email. Unused photos will be returned after the project is completed.

I look forward to seeing what you are doing and including your work in this exciting project. If you know other artists whose work should be considered, please pass this letter along, or send their names and addresses to me.

Cordially,
Dona
