Guru visits Costa Rican Blacksmiths
Cinder cone volcano at Aguas Zarcas Aguas Zarcas de San Carlos Costa Rica. For the second year I have spent part of February visiting friends in Costa Rica at their farm Finca Isla in Northern Costa Rica. If things work out I too may be moving here to take advantage of the mild climate and low cost of living. On this year's trip I brought parts to build a gas forge and met with Johan Cubillos, a Venezuelan blacksmith living in San Jose. Johan is an engineer and student of Frank Turley. Johan introduced us to the last old time blacksmiths in the Central Valley and gave us a tour of better ironwork in San Jose, capital of Costa Rica. Continued. . . Climbing a giant strangler fig, hiking to the top of a volcano, photographing humming birds, touring a pineapple plantation and making friends along the way. Continued. . .
