Brent Bailey
from California is a well known blacksmithing demonstrator in various parts and has been traveling to Peru to teach blacksmithing at conferences under the sponsorship of the steel company Aceros Arequipa.
In much of Latin America ironwork is very popular as fencing and security grates but much of it has been very utilitarian.
Brent has been teaching forging techniques to ironworkers that want to improve their skills and produce a higher class of work. See photos below from his recent trip to Peru.
Brent's next trip is to South Africa where he will be teaching at the Blacksmith's Workshop a non-profit trust in Cape Town, South Africa. To get there and cover expenses Brent has had to find his own sponsors. The California Blacksmiths Association and anvilfire's CSI ( CyberSmiths International) are helping with this cause.
