Scheduled demonstrators are Dan Nauman, Eric Moebius (along with brother Jeff), and Tom Latané. These gentlemen recently collaborated on the “Neptune Gate” project for the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum overlooking Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Each will bring different skills to demonstrate separately.

12th annual Forge Fest at the Plantation Agriculture Museum on Saturday, March 27th, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. : Scott, AR 72142
Dear Blacksmith,

Plantation Agriculture Museum is holding the 12th annual Forge Fest on Saturday, March 27th, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. We are searching for volunteer blacksmiths who would like to share their talents and skills with the public. This is an excellent opportunity to teach the public about the art of blacksmithing and to network with other blacksmiths. We welcome smiths with all skill levels and interests. I hope to see some of the Blacksmith’s Organization of Arkansas members and some of the Four State Iron Munchers Blacksmiths Association members at our event.

If you plan to join in the demonstrations, you will need to bring your own forge, tools and fuel. The museum will likely have a bladesmith (John Fitch, MS), farrier (Neil Kenzel) and general blacksmith (Rex Harrel) working throughout the day, but to make this a successful event, we need the clubs and more blacksmiths of all types to participate. We will allow sales as a further incentive to you and to help this event grow but we ask that you keep it low key.

The Plantation Agriculture Museum is located just 20 minutes from Little Rock at the junction of U.S. Hwy. 165 and Arkansas Hwy. 161. Take exit 7 off I-440 turn on U.S. Hwy. 165 South, go 5 miles to Museum and turn right on Arkansas Hwy. 161 in Scott, Arkansas. The Museum is open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Even if you can not forge, be sure and attend our Forge Fest as a visitor. We also ask your help with finding places to post fliers and post information on web sites. Contact me if you have suggestions.

If you plan to demonstrate or have any questions or special needs, please contact me at (501) 961-1409 or holly.houser@mail.state.ar.us or Ben Swadley at ben.swadley@mail.state.ar.us . We look forward to seeing you on March 27th, 2004.
