Anvils in America, THE book about anvils Anvil Gallery

Lyda-Ferdinand Collection - 1813 French Anvil

1613 French Anvil

1813 French Church Window Anvil

Many anvils such as this are found with decoration and marking on the sides including dates. It is unknown whether these are the date of manufacturer OR the year the owner marked the anvil or some other anniversary. In general it is assumed that the anvil is probably at least as old as the date markings.

This anvil is unusual in its upward slope of the face and horn. Perhaps a custom made anvil?
